(Sept. 25, 2024) Middletown, RI – In a powerful show of support for mental health, guests at this year’s Rock the Beach Gala donated over $225,000 to Newport Mental Health, sending a resounding message about the importance of community-based mental health care. The evening’s overwhelming generosity will help fund vital programs and services that provide immediate care to individuals and families in Newport County.
“The extraordinary outpouring of support from our community is deeply moving,” said Dayna Gladstein, President & CEO of Newport Mental Health. “This event brings people together in a way that not only inspires but sustains our mission, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
The September 19 event, held at the Newport Beach House, kicked off with a waterfront reception where Gladstein and Board Chair Nicki Colosi Trilling personally greeted guests. Attendees then moved to ocean-view tables for dinner, setting the stage for a night of inspiration and giving.
Presenting sponsor Mark Aramli of BedJet/Aramli Foundation delivered a heartfelt address on the power of community. He encouraged everyone to spread the word about the life-changing work of Newport Mental Health, just as last year’s sponsor, Jeff Lipshires of J2Construct, had done for him. The evening’s momentum continued with a generous $30,000 donation from sponsor Lobby Muddy Fest, an inspiring event led by young professionals that has become a major supporter of Newport Mental Health. Co-founder Tyler Bernadyn, now a Newport Mental Health board member, gave a passionate speech on the critical need for mental health services.
The excitement hit a peak with the live auction, led by auctioneer Lucas Hunt, where a luxury trip to Tuscany sparked a bidding war. Afterward, guests were moved by a video highlighting the stories of Newport Mental Health clients and families. This emotional moment set the tone for a “Fund-A-Need” paddle raise, which secured additional donations for crucial services including providing transportation for clients to vital appointments and behavioral health treatment for those who are uninsured or under-resourced.
Major sponsors such as the Bazarsky Family Foundation also played a pivotal role in the evening’s success, joining a broad base of community support from BankNewport, Farrar & Associates, Fifth Ward Liquor, Integrated Healthcare Partners, David & Jean Kelly, National Security and Alarm, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, Newport Hospital, Beacon Mutual Insurance Co., Helly Hansen Newport, Thrive Behavioral Health, Michael Tsandilas & Liz Mello, and Mary & Guy Van Pelt.
Honored guests included Richard LeClerc, Director of the RI Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospitals; Senator Louis DiPalma; State Representatives Lauren Carson (Newport) and Marvin Abney (Middletown, Newport); and Town Councilman Dennis Turano (Middletown), who underscored the commitment to expanding community-based mental health care.
The night wrapped up with lively dancing to the DownCity Band, leaving attendees with memories of a meaningful and joyous celebration. Newport Mental Health also extends its sincere thanks to Newport Beach House for providing an impeccable venue, a delicious three-course meal, and unforgettable hospitality.
